This AI music generator turns a short written description into a complete piece of music. You type the style, mood and setting you have in mind, such as "lo-fi hip hop, rainy evening, soft piano and vinyl crackle", and choose a model. Some models sing lyrics you write yourself, marked up with [Verse] and [Chorus] tags, or skip vocals entirely when you switch on Instrumental. Others compose their own words from your description and show you the lyrics they used next to the audio. When the song is ready it appears in a player on the same screen, and you can download it. It works as a text to song and lyrics to song tool in one place, without a DAW, a microphone or any music theory.
Example result
Input
Description: "Indie folk, melancholic, acoustic guitar and cello, a solitary walk to a coffee shop at dusk." Lyrics: two short verses and a chorus, tagged [verse] and [chorus], about streetlights and an old coat.
Output
Generated Music: one MP3 track at 44,100 Hz and 256 kbps, ready in the player. What you hear: a fingerpicked guitar intro, then a soft, close-miked vocal singing the first [verse] lines over sustained cello. The [chorus] lifts with a second vocal layer and a fuller strum before dropping back for verse two. If you had chosen a Lyria model instead, the description alone would drive the song, and a Lyrics panel under the player would show the words the model wrote, such as a new chorus about "a lamp in the window". Not quite right? Change one detail in the description (tempo, instrument, vocal type) and generate again.
How it works
How Music Generator works
- 01
Pick a model
Open Generate Music and choose from the model list. Each option shows its credit cost per song. MiniMax Music sings your own lyrics; the Google Lyria models write lyrics for you and accept a longer description.
- 02
Describe the sound
In the Music Description box (at least 10 characters), name a genre, the mood, the instruments and a scene. Specific words like "brushed drums" or "female vocal, breathy" steer the result far more than "a good song".
- 03
Add lyrics or go instrumental
With a lyrics model, paste up to 3,500 characters and label sections with tags such as [Verse], [Chorus], [Bridge] and [Outro], or flip the Instrumental switch for a track with no vocals. Optional settings let you choose sample rate, bitrate and MP3, WAV or PCM output.
- 04
Listen and download
Press Generate Music. The finished track loads into an audio player with a download button, plus the generated lyrics when the model wrote its own.
Use cases
Who it is for
Songwriters testing lyrics
Hear your words sung in a genre before you book a session. Swapping the description from country ballad to synth pop shows how the same chorus lands in two styles.
Video creators needing a bed track
Generate an instrumental that matches the pace and mood of a vlog, trailer or product clip instead of scrolling through stock libraries for something close enough.
Personal gifts and in-jokes
Write a birthday verse full of names and shared stories and turn it into a real song, sung rather than read out.
Producers sketching ideas
Use a quick generation as a reference for arrangement or vibe, then rebuild the parts you like in your own session.
Tips
Get better results
- Stack four kinds of detail in the description: genre, mood, instrumentation and a setting or scene.
- Name the voice you want, for example "raspy male baritone" or "airy female vocal with harmonies".
- Keep lyric lines short and put each on its own line so the phrasing follows a natural rhythm.
- Tag every section; a clear [Chorus] repeated twice gives the song a recognizable hook.
- Choose WAV in the additional settings if you plan to edit or master the track afterward.
- Change one variable at a time between generations so you learn which words move the sound.
Limitations
What it can't tell you
Each generation is a new creation from a model, so two runs with the same prompt will not sound identical, and the model may not follow every instruction (an exact tempo, a key or a specific bar count, for example). Lyric pronunciation can occasionally slip on unusual words. Check the terms and the rules of any platform where you plan to publish before using a track commercially.
Frequently Asked Questions
Music Generator questions
How does an AI song generator work?
You give the model text: a description of the style and, for some models, your lyrics. It then composes melody, harmony, instrumentation and vocals together and returns an audio file. Nothing is stitched from loops you choose; the whole track is generated from your words, which is why detailed descriptions produce more predictable songs.
Can I turn my own lyrics into a song?
Yes. Choose MiniMax Music, keep Instrumental off, and paste your lyrics into the Lyrics box. Structure tags like [Verse], [Chorus] and [Bridge] tell the model where sections begin, so your chorus is treated as a chorus. The box takes between 10 and 3,500 characters.
Can it make music without vocals?
With a lyrics model, turn on the Instrumental switch and the lyrics field disappears. With a Lyria model, ask for an instrumental in the description itself, for example "instrumental only, no vocals, ambient piano and strings".
What is the difference between the models?
MiniMax Music 2.6 sings lyrics you provide and lets you set sample rate, bitrate and file format. Lyria 3 and Lyria 3 Pro write their own lyrics from the description, accept up to 5,000 characters of it, and return MP3. The picker shows each model's credit cost per song.
Do I need an account to make a song?
You can open the page and try out descriptions without signing in, but generating a track requires an account on a paid plan, because each song draws from your monthly credits. The pricing page lists the plans.
